Non‐Hermitian Hartman Effect

چکیده

Abstract The Hartman effect refers to the rather paradoxical result that time spent by a quantum mechanical particle or photon tunnel through an opaque potential barrier becomes independent of width for long barriers. Such effect, which has been observed in different physical settings, raised lively debate and some controversies, owing correct definition interpretation tunneling times apparent superluminal transmission. A open question is whether (and under conditions) persists inelastic scattering, is, when non‐Hermitian scattering matrix not unitary. Here, heterojunction tight‐binding picture considered, where consists generally finite‐sized lattice attached two semi‐infinite nearest‐neighbor Hermitian leads. simple general condition derived persistence barriers, showing it can be found non‐Hermiticity arises from nonreciprocal couplings, displays skin without any special symmetry system.

Delay time and the hartman effect in quantum tunneling.

A general relation between the group delay and the dwell time is derived for quantum tunneling. It is shown that the group delay is equal to the dwell time plus a self-interference delay. The Hartman effect in quantum tunneling is explained on the basis of saturation of the integrated probability density (or number of particles) under the barrier.

The Hartman-Grobman Theorem

The Hartman–Grobman Theorem (see [3, page 353]) was proved by Philip Hartman in 1960 [5]. It had been announced byGrobman in 1959 [1], likely unbeknownst to Hartman, and Grobmanpublished his proof in 1962 [2], likely without knowing of Hartman’s work. (Grobman attributes the question to Nemycki and an earlier partial result to R.M. Minc (citing Nauč. Dokl. Vysš. Školy. Fiz.-Mat. Nauki 1 (1958))...

On Hartman Almost Periodic Functions

In this note we consider multi-dimensional Hartman almost periodic functions and sequences, defined with respect to different averaging sequences of subsets in R or Z. We consider the behavior of their Fourier-Bohr coefficients and their spectrum, depending on the particular averaging sequence, and we demonstrate this dependence by several examples. Extensions to compactly generated, locally co...

On the eigenvalues of some nonhermitian oscillators

We consider a class of one-dimensional nonhermitian oscillators and discuss the relationship between the real eigenvalues of PT-symmetric oscillators and the resonances obtained by different authors. We also show the relationship between the strong-coupling expansions for the eigenvalues of those oscillators. Comparison of the results of the complex rotation and the Riccati-Padé methods reveals...
